The 2025 season is flying by, and it's still unclear whether or not shortstop Bo Bichette fits into the Toronto Blue Jays' future plans. Bichette is on an expiring deal and it looks like the Detroit Tigers could benefit from adding him.

It was recently announced that most expect Bichette to sign a deal worth around $170 million for his upcoming deal on a 6 year term due to how he has been playing this season.

The Tigers seem to be interested in acquiring Bichette from the Blue Jays

The Tigers have built off of their surprising 2024 season and have been an absolute powerhouse so far this season but it looks like they are still looking to add a few missing pieces before the playoffs.
Former MLB GM Jim Bowden recently stated that the Tigers could be interested in acquiring Bichette to help solve their third base issues this upcoming off-season but there is always a chance he gets dealt before the trade deadline as a rental.
Jim Bowden of The Athletic (subscription required) recently wrote about Bo Bichette of the Toronto Blue Jays potentially being an answer for the Tigers at third base this coming winter. -Ziegler

>«Bichette might have to be willing to move to third base for certain interested teams like the Tigers, Yankees, or Dodgers, but he should have a strong market if he plays at his accustomed level this season,» -Bowden

For Toronto , if they are not willing to re-sign Bichette, they need to try and move him at the trade deadline to at least end up with some kind of return even if it is just for a rental.
Losing a player like Bo to free agency with nothing in return would be catastrophic for the Blue Jays since the chances they will find a free agent of his caliber to replace him is slim to none.
The free agent market will have an array of talented players this off-season but the issue the Blue Jays seem to have is convincing those players to come to Toronto which fans have seen time and time again over the last few years.
