Jim Baba, a longtime executive with Baseball Canada, has passed away at the age of 69.

His death was first announced by friend and Toronto Blue Jays broadcaster Jamie Campbell.
Jim Baba, long-time Executive Director of Baseball Canada, passed away today. My heart goes out to his family. A wonderful man.
Baba, originally from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, was a longtime Executive Director and one of the most respected and influential leaders in Canadian baseball history.
He began his career locally, serving as the Parks and Recreations director in Kindersley, before moving up to become director of operations for Baseball Saskatchewan, helping to develop baseball programs throughout the province.
Before long, he was coaching at a national level, managing at variety of competitions, including the 1991 Pan American Games, and the 1994, 1998, and 2005 Baseball World Cups.
He moved to Ottawa in 2000 to become director of baseball operations for Baseball Canada. He eventually became Executive Director, a position that he held until his retirement in 2021.

Baba remembered by friends and colleagues

Jason Dickson, former MLB pitcher with the California/Anaheim Angels and current CEO of Baseball Canada, reminisced on Baba's leadership.
Jim was an incredible mentor, a loyal colleague, and an even better friend. We coached together, traveled together, and spent more than two decades working side by side. His leadership shaped the direction of Baseball Canada, but more than that, it shaped people. He cared deeply, not just about the game, but about the people in it. I'll miss his calm presence, his wisdom, and his belief in doing things the right way.

Jim Baba leaves behind a wife and four children.
Blue Jays Central sends their condolences to the Baba family as well as his Baseball Canada friends and colleagues.
