Update on George Springer injury

George Springer was in pain. That much was obvious during his at-bat in the fifth inning of the Blue Jays game against the Baltimore Orioles. After he struck out to end the frame, he immediately went into the Jays clubhouse and did not return.
Now, manager John Schneider and the team have offered some updates on the outfielder's health.
Springer officially left the game with left discomfort. It is unknown is his swing caused the issue or whether it had been building for some time, but either way it did not look good. Fortunately for the Blue Jays, it does not appear to be serious.
Blue Jays insider stated that Springer underwent an X-Ray after the game which came back negative. As of right now, he is considered day-to-day. That's very good news for the Blue Jays
A little bit a of a zinger... Best possible outcome so far. - John Schneider
The Blue Jays can ill-afford to lose Springer for any extended period of time. The veteran has been Toronto's best hitter in the season. Through the team's first 16 games, he is slashing .375/.436/.471 with two home runs and ten RBIs. He also has two stolen bases.
If Springer needs a couple of days off, look for Nathan Lukes and Myles Straw to get the starts in CF. Both are more than capable as Straw is a former Gold Glove winner and Lukes can play all three outfield and has shown made some lovely defensive plays this season.
Should Springer require some time on the IL, which is unlikely at this point, the Blue Jays would call up either
Addison Barger or Steward Berroa in the interim. Barger has been off to a very hot start in Triple-A.
The Blue Jays should announce further updates upon the team's return to Toronto.
