The Toronto Blue Jays are looking to improve their offense in a time that it appears to be clicking the most.

In the sweep of Padres the Blue Jays scored 24 runs over 3 games, however you can never have enough offense.
Previous to the Padres series they went 3-3 over a six-game stretch, such limited run production won't suffice for a team with playoff ambitions and the fourth-highest payroll in the MLB.

The Blue Jays may need to make a move to help spark their offence.

Trevor Fitzpatrick from Blue Jays Nation writes that a recurring theme with manager John Schneider's lineups this season, and the Blue Jays' roster overall, has been players hitting in the batting order than they likely deserve.
"When looking at players like Daulton Varsho, a speed/power mix with a lower batting average, they'd be ideal at the bottom of the order. As of now, the Jays have players like Varsho, Alejandro Kirk, and George Springer batting in the middle of the order with streaky-at-best production. Anthony Santander was in the third spot, but he got bumped down while Varsho, Springer, and Kirk have seen more playing time ahead." -Fitzpatrick

Bringing in a solid power hitting veteran or making a trade appears to be the most immediate way to address the Blue Jays' issues with run production and of lack of power.
"A name that, surprisingly, no team has even taken a flyer on is still available in J.D. Martinez. While he is almost 38, he still smacked 16 home runs in 2024, and was an All-Star from 2021-2023." -Fitzpatrick

A trade appears to be the more likely route, with any power-hitting bat making sense to fill the Blue Jays' glaring hole in the middle of the lineup. However, such a move is more likely to materialize closer to the trade deadline, as the team keeps an eye on which players become available and assesses who they can realistically part with.
