Turns out that that the Toronto Blue Jays are restricting postseason tickets to Canadian credit card addresses to keep them in the hands of local fans.
Canadians logging on to Ticketmaster to purchase tickets for potential games 4 and 5 in the Bronx were met with a message informing them that sales were restricted to residents of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania and that residency will be based on credit card billing address.
However, the Jays have the same restriction on Ticketmaster for fans looking to make the trip to Rogers Centre from the United States,
a CBC report confirms.
This is not a new thing, a representative for Ticketmaster told CityNews of the decision, which is made by individual teams and not the ticket distributor.
Fans from Boston also blocked, but Canadians can buy tickets at Fenway Park
If you don't have a Canadian billing address and want to purchase a seat at the Rogers Centre, you will be met with the same block that Canadians experienced when checking out on Ticketmaster.
This restriction applies for both Yankees and Red Sox fans, Thomas Daigle of the CBC reports.
While Red Sox fans may be restricted from initial ticket sales for potential Toronto games, the same block will not be applied for Canadian fans looking to make their way to potential playoff games at Fenway Park in Boston.
