Blue Jays' Alek Manoah pitches four scoreless innings in Triple-A Buffalo

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Alek Manoah is in his seventh start for triple-A Buffalo.
As the Blue Jays continue their playoff push, Alek Manoah continues to ramp up his production in Triple-A.
In his seventh start for triple-A Buffalo, he pitched 4.2 scoreless innings against the Scanton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on Thursday.
Despite the shutout frames, Manoah struggled with his command, giving up five walks to only four strikeouts.
Alek Manoah allowed only one hit and struck out four over 4.2 innings in his final triple-A start of the year today. He struggled with control, walking five, including three four-pitch walks. Also had eight whiffs.

He threw 88 pitches, with 46 for strikes, and was below average with his velocity, his four-seam fastball sat at 90.5 m.p.h. (93.3 average) and his sinker was at 90.5 m.p.h. (93.5 average).
After giving up a leadoff walk to Jorbit Vivas in the first, Manoah forced J.C. Escarra into a double play.
He went on to give up another walk to Jose Rojas, but struck out Spencer Jones to end the first.
The 27-year-old was taken out of the game in the top of the fifth with two on base after issuing walks to Omar Martinez and Vivas.
Paxton Schultz replaced him and struck out Escarra to end the inning.
Now that Manoah is officially done with his rehab assignment, he will continue working to progress back to major-league form after undergoing UCL reconstruction surgery last season.
His velocity has still been coming back throughout his rehab outings across Toronto's minor-league affiliates.
