The Blue Jays have another Bo and a Bonds

Deep down in the Blue Jays farm system, amongst the future stars of tomorrow, former independent league baseballers, and career minor leaguers, stands a good ol' fashioned Southerner, who bears the name of one of baseball's greatest hitters, and one of the Blue Jays too: Bo Bonds
The thing about this Bonds though, is that he ain't a hitter. A pitcher for Louisiana-Lafayette University, Bonds was drafted in the 13th round by the Blue Jays in 2022, 398th overall.
His rise hasn't been rapid, but it has been steady. After starting out in Rookie Ball in 2023, Bonds reached High-A Vancouver last year. Although his sample size is relatively small, he has remained consistent throughout all levels.
In Low-A Dunedin, he has gone 1-1 with a 4.76 ERA with 46 strikeouts in just 28.1 innings. He also saved five games. Upon making the jump up to Vancouver, Bonds continued his ways going 4-1 with a 4.26 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 12.2 innings. He also saved one game.
Bonds is clearly a power pitcher and strikeout machine who has the raw talent to succeed at the major league level and is someone who could be a future closer or late inning reliever for the Blue Jays.
He is also an interesting character. Scrolling through his social media feed, one sees that the Gainesville, Florida-born prospect's other passion is big game hunting. In addition to being a strikeout wiz on the mound, he is also a deadly marksman, adept at slaying both deer and game birds.
Bonds' name might not be one heard with any regularity or frequency during the season, but nevertheless, he remains an interesting prospect to watch. If his steady development continues, he could be a major leaguer before too long.
