Toronto Blue Jays closer Jeff Hoffman's troubles on the mound have everybody wondering who can close out games going forward.

The Toronto Blue Jays were desperate to earn a victory in Sunday's series finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
They had been beaten the first two games of the series at Dodger Stadium and suffering a sweep would not have been a good look for the American League East leaders.
Blue Jays closer Jeff Hoffman was called on to get the final out in the bottom of the eighth inning and he started the ninth inning for manager John Schneider.
Hoffman got one more out in the top of the ninth inning, but it was far from a stellar outing.
He walked five batters in his 2/3 of an inning before he was replaced by rookie left-hander Mason Fluharty.
Despite issuing five walks, Hoffman did not allow a hit or a run.

Blue Jays may look at other options in the closing roll as Jeff Hoffman is too erratic at times

After the game, discussions immediately started if Jeff Hoffman should be replaced in the closing roll.
Former GM Steve Phillips joind the TSN First Up Podcast to discuss the Matter.

While some believe that the Blue Jays should move on from his as the team's closer, others believe that Toronto should continue to give him time to prove himself since he has had moments of greatness.
No question, Jeff Hoffman was bad yesterday. However, before that outing, he had a 2.86 ERA with 11.45 K/9, 1.64 walks per nine, and 13 saves in 24 games since June 1.

Others like former Tim & Sid co-host Sid Siexiero believe Hoffman is done and will not be in the closing role by September.
Jeff Hoffman will not be the Blue Jays closer by September 1st. Maybe sooner.
While his season as a whole has not been great, Hoffman has been playing a lot better lately, as he has a 3.07 ERA with 19 strikeouts in his last 15 games.
