The Blue Jays promoted Yesavage from Single-A with the Dunedin Blue Jays to High-A in Vancouver a few days ago since he has been so dominant so far in his first season in professional baseball.
Blue Jays make announcement regarding Trey Yesavage after his first game with the Canadians
Yesavage took the mound for the first time in High-A ball yesterday and many wondered if he would be able to keep up the same incredible pace he had going for him in Single-A.
Well Yesavage did exactly that as he finished his first High-A game with 10 strikeouts, giving up only 2 hits, 2 runs and walking 3 batters in 4 innings pitched with a total of 73 pitches.
Yesavage struck out 10 hitters and racked up 19 whiffs over 4.0 innings on Tuesday night as he made his debut with the High-A Vancouver Canadians. Yesavage did allow two runs, two hits and issued three walks while tossing 73 pitches, but settled in as the night wore on.
If
Yesavage is able to keep this pace up for even a month there is a good chance that he finds himself promoted once again to Double-A with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
Yesavage was the No. 20 overall selection last July out of East Carolina, where he was one of college baseball's top pitchers.
At ECU last season he went 11-1 in 15 starts with a 2.02 ERA. He also struck out 145 and walked 32 in 93.1 innings. He won the AAC's pitching triple crown, leading the conference in wins, ERA and strikeouts.
