Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Max Scherzer has had a rough couple of outings to say the least.

The Kansas City Royals tuned up the three-time Cy Young winner in his last outing, as he allowed seven earned runs in less than an inning.
It has been a tough stretch for the 41-year-old, having allowed four earned runs in three of his last four starts.
Scherzer's season ERA has climbed to 5.06, and he is grappling with persistent home run issues, compounded by back tightness that he's been dealing with.
It's been especially challenging for Scherzer in the first inning.
Max Scherzer has a 12.96 ERA in the 1st inning this season. That's the 4th highest 1st-inning ERA over the past 50 MLB seasons among pitchers that made 15+ starts.
Max Scherzer's 9.00 ERA is his highest over a 6-start span since April-June 2010 as a member of the Tigers

What does the future hold for Max Scherzer going forward?

Steve Simmons from the Toronto Sun thinks this may be the last start of his career.
Do the Blue Jays use him as a reliever role to eat up innings? He'd offer two to four quality innings at an elite level.
An average of five innings on the high end and three innings on the low end as a starter shows he's good as a reliever. Scherzer would fit as a mid-reliever and or pre-set-up man.
It's hard to say at this point but something has to give, he cannot start big games going forward.
