Guerrero was responsible for both of the Blue Jays runs. After Bo Bichette opened the third with a double, Vlad drove him home with an RBI single. The score remained 1-0 until the 6th, when Guerrero launched one into the second deck in left centre field for his first home run of the season. Bichette added an RBI double in the seventh.
Chris Bassitt got the start for the Blue Jays and continued his hot start to the season. While he threw nearly 30 pitches in his last inning of work, he went five scoreless innings, giving up just three hits and two walks, while striking out ten. Bassitt now has an 0.77 ERA to open the season.
Despite the low score, the Blue Jays are starting to discover their power stroke, following two home runs on Tuesday. Alan Roden very nearly hit 2nd big league home run, launching a ball to right field that was found by a matter of inches.
The Blue Jays bullpen did their part after Bassitt departed with Brendon Little, Nick Sandlin and Yimi Garcia held the Braves scoreless through eight. Jeff Hoffman gave up a solo home run in the ninth, but was still able to seal the win for Toronto.
The Blue Jays have an off-day tomorrow and begin a three game series against the
Seattle Mariners on Friday. Bowden Francis will get the start for Toronto. First pitch is at 7:07PM ET and the game will be on Apple TV+
